Most of the Mayans were farmers. They grew beans, squash and mostly maize (a type of corn).They thought that they were made of maize. Farmers used a variety of agricultural techniques including irrigation channels. Jade was a precious material to the Mayans. They used for beds and for masks to cover the face of  a king. It was used to make jewelry and put inside teeth. They also used it please the gods.
The Mayans built pyramids, like the Egyptians.It was to hold kings and to use for religious purpose. The tallest was the Temple of the Jaguar. It is located in Tikal, one on the Mayan cities.
